Job description

The Marriott Phoenix Airport is seeking a NIGHT AUDITOR.

REPORTS TO : Front Office Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for checking front office accounting records for accuracy, summarizing, and compiling information for the hotel's financial records daily. Tracks room revenue, occupancy percentages, and other front office statistics.

Prepares summaries of cash, check, and credit card activities, reflecting the hotel's financial performance for the day. Posts room charges and taxes to guest accounts, including those not posted during the day by the front office cashier.

Night Auditor Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Posts room charges and taxes to guest accounts.
  2. Processes guest charges vouchers and credit card vouchers.
  3. Posts charges to guest accounts not posted or incurred during the shift.
  4. Transfers charges and deposits to master accounts.
  5. Ensures charges are assigned to appropriate departments.
  6. Verifies transactions supported by documentary evidence and signatures, correctly posted and allocated in the PMS system.
  7. Verifies that charges from POS and SPA software reach correct guest folios and are not missing.
  8. Prepares reservations for the next business day.
  9. Verifies all account postings and balances.
  10. Ensures room rates are correct and posts them to guest accounts.
  11. Monitors promotional programs like coupons and discounts.
  12. Capable of functioning as a front desk agent for check-in and check-out procedures.
  13. Tracks room revenues, occupancy, and other statistics.
  14. Prepares summaries of cash, check, and credit card activities.
  15. Summarizes operations results for management.
  16. Checks figures, postings, and documents for accuracy; manages computerized financial data.
  17. Prepares end-of-day procedures following the End of Day / Night Audit Checklist.
  18. Maintains complete knowledge of emergency procedures.
  19. Balances the day's charges and makes corrections as needed.
  20. Performs wake-up calls.
  21. Runs end-of-day process in PMS software.
  22. Understands principles of auditing, balancing, and closing accounts.
  23. Operates PMS, typewriters, and other front office equipment.
  24. Responds to guest needs, requests, and complaints, alerting management as necessary.
  25. Performs nightly balancing of in-room video and telephone services.
  26. Knows check-in and check-out procedures.

Prerequisites:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace and by hotel guests.

Experience: At least one year of hotel front desk supervisory experience, including cash handling, accounting procedures, and administrative tasks.
