Job summary

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas in Garland, TX is seeking a Full-Time Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our inpatient behavioral health team. You will work directly with patients, provide support, supervision, and help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

You will collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and the treatment team to promote patient safety and recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year direct care experience with behavioral health patients.
• Military Corpsman experience is acceptable.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Social Work or related field with patient care exposure.
• CNA with behavioral health experience is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervision across shifts.
• Obtain vital signs and monitor behavioral changes.
• Conduct safety rounds and document observations accurately.
• Assist with admissions, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Support daily activities and reinforce coping and life skills.
• Use verbal de-escalation to manage crises and safety concerns.
• Escort patients to activities and treatment areas as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic environment and communicate concerns to the team.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to support individualized patient care.
