Job summary

DHR Health Liver Specialty Center in McAllen is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both administrative and clinical duties. You will take vital signs, assist physicians, manage appointments, process referrals, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in a fast-paced Liver Specialty Center.

The role requires Medical Assistant training, BLS or 90-day certification window, and strong English/Spanish communication.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
• Completion of Medical Assistant Program required.
• BLS certification required or within 90 days of hire.
• Must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions.
• Take patient history, chief complaint and vital signs.
• Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments.
• Assist physician with in-office procedures as needed.
• Verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
• Maintain patient files and assist with referrals as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with staff.
