Job summary

Carbon Health Montgomery, New Jersey, United States, is seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team. You will greet patients, perform phlebotomy, injections, and EKGs while documenting records accurately and following safety protocols.

Requirements include at least 1 year in a medical assistant role, CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification, CPR/BLS, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts from 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Qualifications

  • Experience with medical records documentation and confidentiality.
  • Professional phone etiquette and clear communication with patients and staff.
  • Available to work 12-hour shifts (7:45 a.m.–8:00 p.m.).

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients, document vital signs and histories in the medical record system.
  • Perform blood draws, injections, and EKGs per orders and protocols.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control standards.
  • Support providers during examinations and minor urgent care procedures.
  • Manage medical records with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Answer calls and route messages with professional etiquette.
  • Complete required training to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests.
  • Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times with front desk and staff.
  • Assist with basic point-of-care testing and specimen handling.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked clinical environment and restock between patients.
  • Follow clinic policies and safety standards in urgent care settings.
  • Cover front desk for part or all of a shift as needed.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and standard precautions.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar clinical support role, preferably in an urgent care, emergency, or ambulatory care setting

  • Experience with medical records documentation (electronic or paper), with attention to accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality
  • Professional phone etiquette and clear verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and staff
  • Ability to work 1 2 -hour shifts (7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
Responsibilities
  • Greet and room patients, obtain and document accurate vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints in the medical record system
  • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy), administer injections, and conduct EKGs in accordance with provider orders and clinical protocols
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures, ensuring proper supplies, equipment, and infection control standards are maintained
  • Support providers during examinations and minor urgent care procedures by setting up instruments, assisting as needed, and providing patient support
  • Manage medical records, including accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatments, and test results
  • Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries with professional phone etiquette, routing calls and messages appropriately
  • Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests
  • Coordinate patient flow to minimize wait times, including communicating with front desk, providers, and other staff regarding room availability and patient status
  • Perform basic diagnostic support such as point-of-care testing (as permitted) and ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical environment, including cleaning and restocking exam rooms between patients
  • Follow all clinic policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements to ensure patient and staff safety in the urgent care setting
  • Collaborate with the urgent care team to support a patient-centered, efficient, and compassionate care environment during 12-hour shifts
  • Will be required to cover front desk for part or all of a shift
  • Knowledge of basic infection control practices and standard precautions in a clinical environment
