Job summary

Carbon Health Ocean Township, New Jersey is seeking a Medical Assistant Per-Diem to support urgent care patients under physician supervision. You will help with triage, take histories, perform lab work, and assist with patient care and exams.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to work 12-hour shifts, and potential cross-training as a receptionist to aid patient flow. Certification as CMA and BLS are valued, DOT screening credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CMA certification from CAAHEP/ABHES/NCCA accredited program.
• BLS certification is a plus.
• DOT Drug Screen and DOT BAT certification are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Physician, PA, or NP with medical care of urgent care patients.
• Greet visitors, patients, and staff in a professional manner.
• Perform selected nursing and administrative duties.
• Conduct lab tests as directed by the physician or APRN.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment; take histories and vitals.
• Prepare exam/treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Administer injections and apply dressings as instructed.
• Distribute medications as directed.
• Perform venipuncture as needed.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; ensure sterilization.
• Assist with minor surgeries and exams preparation.
• Assist with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Order and maintain clinical/office supplies and equipment.
• Maintain patient files and records; keep equipment clean and safe.
• Cross-train as Receptionist to support patient workflow.

About the role

• Under general supervision, is responsible to assist the Physician, PA, or NP in support of medical care of urgent care patients. Day to day activities will vary from triage, answering phones, taking medical histories, to performing lab work.

What you'll do

• Demonstrates high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitor, patients, and staff members in a professional manner.
• Perform selected nursing and administrative duties.
• Perform direct patient care as instructed by the Physician, PA, or NP.
• Perform lab tests as directed by the Physician, PA, or NP.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient histories and vital signs.
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
• Administer injections and apply dressings as instructed.
• Distribute medications as directed by Physician, PA, or NP.
• Requires ability to perform venipuncture.
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Assist provider in preparing for minor surgeries and exams.
• Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
• Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
• Maintain patient files, records and other information.
• Maintain equipment for use at all times, in a clean and safe condition.
• Makes suggestions to improve work methods.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Must Be Able To Work 12 Hour Shifts
• Must be able to become cross-trained as a Receptionist to help with patient workflow in clnic
• Must be inclined to becoming DOT Drug Screen and DOT BAT Certified

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Or GED Equivalent Degree
• Certificate from CAAHEP, AHBES or NCCA accredited program for CMA(Certified Medical Assistant License
• BLS(Basic Life Support) Certification is a Plus
• DOT Drug Screen and DOT BAT is a plus
