Job Title: Meat Department Associate

This is a full-time position responsible for processing, packaging, and stocking meat products according to Meat Standards. Duties include cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage. The employee may also perform duties of a seafood clerk when assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Associates must be at least 18 years of age.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Personal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, willingness to participate in and complete required training, and ability to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
2. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Language Skills: Ability to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and correspondence in English; ability to communicate effectively in small groups and one-on-one situations with English-speaking customers, vendors, and colleagues.
4. Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers, including calculations involving American money and weight measurements.
5. Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions and handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
6. Certificates and Licenses: Completion of company training such as new hire orientation, food sanitation, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
7. Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, and smell. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds frequently, reaching from 6-72 inches. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color, and depth perception.
8. Work Environment: Constantly works in a cool environment (34-36°F), frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and extreme cold. Noise level is moderate to loud.
