Job summary

Greater Chicago Food Depository is hiring for a full-time delivery driver to support meal distribution in Chicago, IL. The role requires transporting and delivering meals to clients, maintaining safety and confidentiality, and completing all required documentation using the Neighbor CRM tool.

You will follow routes, adhere to dispatch instructions, and use approved equipment to ensure meals reach clients in good condition.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to complete the driver qualification road test.
• Ability to complete required driver safety, food handling, privacy and confidentiality training.
• Ability to drive a delivery vehicle safely and follow dispatch instructions.
• Ability to read client identifiers, route documents, meal labels and storage or reheating instructions.
• Ability to communicate respectfully and empathetically with senior clients and report concerns.
• Ability to complete delivery documentation accurately and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to utilize material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Report at the scheduled start time and obtain the assigned vehicle, route, documentation, meals, and equipment.
• Load and verify meals at the loading dock and confirm documentation is present.
• Follow the pre-planned route to deliver to each client on time.
• Deliver meals directly to the client’s door.
• Use the delivery script, identify the program, present the meal, and explain storage or reheating instructions.
• Record wellness concerns, special requests, and feedback in the required logs or Neighbor CRM.
• Document delivery issues and safety concerns per procedures.
• Maintain temperature control of meals using approved packaging throughout the route.
• Safely move products with carts and handling equipment from vehicle to client.
• Return all documents and undeliverable meals to the designated location after the route.
• Participate in initial training and quarterly refreshers.
