Full‑Time Mathematics Teacher, 2025-2026 School Year

E.O. Smith High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and thoughtful individual to contribute to our school’s diversity through their teaching and commitment to students. We are looking for a teacher who brings both strong content knowledge and a deep belief in the potential of every student. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment and to helping students build positive mathematical identities through meaningful equitable classroom experiences.

The Mathematics Department consists of 11 classroom teachers and the department director. We offer a wide range of courses at the college preparatory, honors, and advanced (college‑credit bearing) levels. The new department member will teach five classes consisting of a combination of two to three courses.

Qualifications
  • Possess or be eligible for a Connecticut Educator Certificate: Mathematics, 7‑12 (029).
  • Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate understanding of or have experience in providing culturally relevant instruction.
Teacher Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively with teachers to develop and implement meaningful UbD 2.0 curriculum that includes inclusive, engaging, and rigorous instruction and assessments for all students based on local, state, and national standards.
  • Effectively plan and conduct a student‑centered classroom.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Utilize student data effectively to provide tier one student interventions.
  • Provide multiple opportunities and means in which students can demonstrate mastery of learning outcomes.
  • Continuously maintain and review student progress through both graded and ungraded assessments.
  • Actively participate in both department and school‑wide professional development opportunities and school-sponsored events.
Salary

In accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education and the Region 19 Teachers’ Association, the 2025‑2026 salary range is $52,791 – $102,561.
