About the Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you are essential to hotel operations, keeping the physical plant running at the level guests expect.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of building and facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the property.
  • Perform general electrical repairs including work on appliances, house wiring, air conditioning systems, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Make repairs to plumbing fixtures, piping, drains, and sanitary systems.
  • Maintain HVAC systems to ensure guest rooms and public spaces remain comfortable and properly conditioned.
  • Repair woodwork, wall vinyl, drywall, doors and windows, carpeting, tile, and other interior finishes to maintain appearance and integrity.
  • Perform painting and wall repair throughout the property as needed to maintain brand and property appearance standards.
  • Conduct general mechanical maintenance on pumps, compressors, water heaters, automotive equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Execute and support the hotel’s preventive maintenance program, completing scheduled PM tasks on guest rooms, public areas, and building systems on time and to standard.
  • Respond promptly to work orders submitted by housekeeping, front desk, and other departments, prioritizing room readiness and guest‑impacting issues.
  • Keep accurate records of completed tasks, maintain logs, and prepare and submit all required reports in a timely manner as requested by your supervisor.
  • Identify maintenance issues that fall outside your scope and elevate them appropriately so they are addressed without delay.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members across all departments when entering guest rooms or working in public areas.
  • Engage with guests in a warm, professional, and helpful manner; your presence is part of the guest experience.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the engineering shop and throughout the property.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout protocols, and chemical handling standards.
  • Support emergency maintenance needs as they arise, including participation in an on‑call rotation as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or commercial facility maintenance role is strongly preferred.
  • Broad working knowledge of trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and general mechanical repair.
  • Strong attention to detail; you do not finish a job until it is actually done right.
  • Engaging, professional, and welcoming personality; interactions with guests and team members reflect on the property.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize competing needs.
  • Genuine passion for delivering an exceptional experience for all guests through the quality and reliability of your work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to document work accurately and communicate issues clearly to leadership.
  • Self‑directed work ethic; you manage your time well, follow through on every work order, and do not need to be reminded to close out what you started.
  • Flexible availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the operation.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, crouch, bend, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the full duration of a shift.
  • Valid driver's license is a plus; any relevant trade certifications, EPA 608 certification, or other licenses are a significant advantage.
Physical Requirements

This is a highly active, physical role that requires standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, climbing, and pushing/pulling equipment for the full duration of each shift. The job may involve working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, guest rooms, and outdoor areas.
