Job summary

Harmony Senior Services, LLC is hiring a Maintenance Assistant in Charleston, WV. The role supports the Maintenance Director with building, grounds, and equipment upkeep in a retirement community.

You will perform repairs, operate maintenance tools, manage materials, and assist with resident safety and vehicle duties. Strong organization, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of building maintenance practices and materials.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Team player with good communication.
• Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
• Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, grasp, push and pull for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 50 feet.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and machines used in maintenance.
• Order materials as directed and handle calls.
• Make repairs to building, equipment, and appliances as directed.
• Disassemble and move furniture around the community.
• Check maintenance logs/work orders for prompt responses.
• Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Prepare and paint community surfaces.
• Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping and trash removal.
• Perform basic electrical work (e.g., change light bulbs).
• Transport residents in community vehicle for appointments.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance schedule and safety drills.
• Assist with duties as assigned by Maintenance Director.
