Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, invites married couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents, living in on-campus student homes and providing care for a group of approximately 8-13 students. The role includes mentorship, scheduling, and activities that support students’ academic, emotional, and social development.

Initially, couples work a nine-on/three-off cycle and can transition to a placed houseparent role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-person couple role; married for at least two years.
• Both spouses aged 27 or older.
• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student vans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet restrictions: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning development and recreation.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
