Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Full Time Housekeeping Coordinator to supervise housekeeping operations and staff at our Rapid City location. The role supports compassionate, trauma-informed care and requires leadership in cleaning, inventory, and safety.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm with a start date of October 1, 2026. Salary ranges from $45,760 to $57,200 (DOE) and includes comprehensive benefits, generous PTO, retirement plans, and referral bonuses.

Qualifications

  • High school degree required.
  • Minimum one year experience in housekeeping preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage housekeeping staff: hiring input, assign tasks, set expectations, and conduct appraisals.
  • Clean designated areas daily and ensure timely, standards-compliant cleaning.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies inventory.
  • Report repairs or safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards.
  • Attend meetings and participate in in-service training.
  • Assist with in-kind donations storage and organization.

Position Overview:

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Full Time Housekeeping Coordinator to supervise the operation of the housekeeping needs as well as supervisor of housekeeping staff. What You’ll Do:
  • Team Management: Participate in recommendations for hiring of assigned staff. Assign and Monitor staff tasks. Set performance expectations, monitor performance, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Cleaning Duties: Clean assigned areas including, but not limited to: bedrooms, common areas, bathrooms, dining room, administrative areas, and conference rooms. Ensure assigned areas are cleaned according to standards and in a timely manner. Ensure laundry is completed on a daily basis.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure cleaning supplies inventory is maintained.
  • Safety Management: Report needed repairs or safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with agency policy and all required regulatory standards.
  • Professional Development: Attend assigned meetings. Participate in required in-service training.
  • Agency Duties: Keep abreast of developments in Agency’s areas of services and expertise.
  • Donation Management: Receive and organize in-kind donations. Stock, organize, and maintain inventory of closets and storage areas, as assigned..

Requirements
Education
  • High school degree required.
Experience
  • Minimum one year experience in housekeeping and maintenance preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals, requiring attentive and safe utilization.
