Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's Shady Grove Medical Center is seeking an experienced Security Officer to safeguard patients, staff, visitors and volunteers. You will patrol the facility, support response to emergencies, and uphold service standards in a faith-based healthcare setting.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma, security experience (preferably in a hospital), a US driver’s license, Maryland Special Police Commission eligibility, and active BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous security experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Must possess a US Driver’s License.
• Must qualify for Maryland Special Police Commission.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Must be able to respond to physically demanding emergency calls.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, physicians and volunteers.
• Conduct foot patrols of the facility and parking areas.
• Conduct vehicular patrols of the parking areas and off-site locations.
• Assist with restraining violent patients.
• Use time and resources in a financially responsible manner.
• Foster group cohesiveness within the security department.
• Portray a positive image of the organization.
