Job summary

CSA School District in Brighton, MI is seeking a passionate Social Studies Teacher to engage students in history, geography, economics, and social issues through an interdisciplinary approach. The teacher will create inclusive, rigorous lessons and assessments aligned to standards, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and strong communication with families.

The ideal candidate holds MI secondary teaching certification with endorsement in Social Studies; a master’s degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or a related field.
• A master’s degree is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum, educational best practices, and assessment methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Encourage critical thinking and discussions around social studies topics, including but not limited to history, culture, citizenship, and global issues.
• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
