Qualifications

• Current and valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Elementary (1-6).
• SEI Endorsement by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Dual certification in moderate disabilities or ESL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach students per the Westfield Public Schools curriculum and district resources.
• Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter per state law and district policies.
• Develop lesson plans and provide differentiated instruction to meet individual needs.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Evaluate student progress and maintain records; prepare progress reports.
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards for a productive learning environment.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other channels about student progress.
• Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to support health, social-emotional, and learning needs.
• Create effective learning environments with engaging displays and centers.
• Stay current professionally through district-provided and self-directed growth activities.
• Select and requisition books and instructional materials.
• Supervise students during the school day and administer assessments as required.
• Analyze student data to plan instruction and participate in school committees.
