Job summary

New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association Inc is seeking a full-time funeral director to join our Union County staff. A retirement opened this role after 36 years, and we offer a competitive salary and benefits within a family-owned setting.

The position features a 40-hour week with specific time-off, 7 paid holidays with overtime, vacation, personal days, life insurance, 401K match and CEU coverage. Salary ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 plus overtime based on experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of funeral directing.
• Interact with clergy, cemeteries, doctors' offices and other vendors with professionalism.
• Familiar with EDRS to complete death certificates.
• Work with families in a compassionate and competent style.
• Provide clerical support and handle scheduling as needed.
• Oversee opening duties and telephone coverage when required.

Job description

We need a full-time funeral director to join our staff. After 36 years, someone is retiring. We are family-owned and operated in Union County. We offer excellent salary and benefits.

• 40 Hour weekly schedule with Thursdays off and every other weekend off
• 7 holidays with paid overtime for working every other holiday.
• 10 vacation days the first year, with it available to request 5 days after the first 6 months.
• 3 personal days
• Paid evening telephone coverage, minimum 3 nights a week
• Paid opening 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., 2 - 3 times a week

• Excellent salary based on experience: $60K-70K + overtime available

Requirements:

• Valid NJ funeral directors license
• Valid driver’s license
• Perform all aspects of funeral directing that include but are not limited to the following:
• Good language skills, computer skills and phone manners
• Ability to make funeral arrangements with attention to detail.
• Work with families in a compassionate and competent style.
• Interact with clergy, cemeteries, doctors' offices and other vendors with professionalism.
• Familiar with EDRS to complete death certificates.
• Perform other funeral home clerical responsibilities when required.
