Job summary

The City of Danville Fire Department is seeking a skilled, state-certified firefighter for full-time service at 461 West Main St, Danville, KY. This non-exempt position supports fire safety, suppression, and life rescue duties with training and career development under the Fire Chief.

Responsibilities include responding to alarms and emergencies, operating firefighting equipment, and performing first aid. Eligibility requires KY firefighter certifications, EMT, CPAT, and a valid KY driver’s

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED completed.
• Must have valid Kentucky driver’s license.
• KY state Fire Basic 2 or 400hr certification is required.
• IFSAC Firefighter I and II certifications required.
• Certified Kentucky Emergency Medical Technician is required.
• Valid CPAT card, or less than 1 year gap in fire service employment.
• Certified Hazardous Materials Technician, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Car seat technician certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Responds to alarms, fires, rescues, extrications, and other emergencies.
• Performs essential emergency scene functions and uses firefighting equipment.
• Capable of wearing full protective clothing and SCBA during duties.
• Performs rescue activities to extract victims from dangerous situations.
• Administers emergency first aid including CPR as needed.
• conducts salvage and overhaul work and removes debris.
• Maintains clear communication via radio and phone.
• Follows orders, works under stress, and reports promptly.
• Participates in ongoing training and maintains equipment and facilities.
