Job summary

The Sheepscot Valley Children's House (SVCH) in Wiscasset, ME is seeking a nurturing, full-time assistant teacher to join our team. The role supports children aged 18 months through Pre-K, with programming across Toddler, Preschool, and Pre‑K.

Hours are 40 per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Salary starts at $19-$21 per hour and benefits include holidays, medical coverage, retirement options, and MRTQ stipends.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with children of various backgrounds and development levels.
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
• Minimum of 1-year of early childhood experience.
• A CDA credential or background in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
• Background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
• Assist with lesson plan implementation and development of culturally relevant activities.
• Support children in developmentally appropriate ways while fostering curiosity and learning.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
