Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker in North Carolina. This role is key to safely loading and unloading freight, maintaining accurate shipping practices, and supporting warehouse operations. You will operate forklifts and manual tools to move cargo and ensure secure packaging.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have working knowledge of procedures surrounding all aspects of freight transportation.
• Must have knowledge of different loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Familiarity with forms used in freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, etc.).
• Ability to utilize dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Transport yourself and freight within the service center.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight forms as needed.
• Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as necessary.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets and straps.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers.
• Maintain frequent contact with service center staff in a fast-paced environment.
