Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker in New York to efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring safety and accuracy in handling shipments. The role requires using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual techniques while complying with DOT guidelines and company procedures.

You will read shipping labels, prepare freight paperwork, and secure loads to prevent damage, contributing to on-time deliveries and OD Family culture.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have working knowledge of procedures surrounding all aspects of freight transportation.
• Must have knowledge of different loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms and yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Transport self and freight throughout the service center.
• Monitor freight locations using Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms used in freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and airbags.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers.
• Coordinate with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.
