Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry.
• Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
• Experience with union contracts and transportation-related government regulations.
• Experience with transport management systems and warehouse management software.
• Advanced computer skills, specifically Excel.
• Ability to translate financial information into clear business language.
• Knowledge of federal regulations on taxes and reporting.

Responsibilities

Director of Transportation

• Ensuring that all employees are trained on company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, and customer service
• Coordinating with other departments such as security or human resources to ensure that any transportation needs are met
• Managing the fleet of vehicles used by the company to ensure that they are safe and well‑maintained
• Managing vehicle maintenance schedules, including ordering parts and making repairs when necessary
• Maintaining relationships with vendors in order to obtain special pricing for fuel or other materials
• Establishing and enforcing rules and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers on buses and trains
