Job summary

• Duties: A full-time high school custodian ensures that the school facility is clean, safe, and operational for students, teachers, and visitors. Daily responsibilities center around heavy cleaning, which includes sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors; sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, and hallways; emptying trash and recycling; and restocking essentials. Beyond daily sanitation, custodians operate machinery like floor scrubbers and buffers, manage minor building repairs, perform basic outdoor maintenance, and handle logistics like setting up furniture and equipment for assemblies, athletic games, and school events. They also monitor safety hazards, assist with inventory management, and safeguard the property by managing lockups and building security.
