Job summary

Creative Dining Services at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, is hiring a full-time Cook to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals in a safe, cost-conscious operation. You will produce timely dishes, follow recipes, and maintain clean, organized work areas.

The role requires at least 2 years cooking experience and ServSafe certification; a High School diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Time food production so all items are ready at service time.
• Prepare food items per recipes to preserve freshness and appeal.
• Use batch cooking to avoid over/under production.
• Apply safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Label and date stored items per standard.
• Maintain food temperatures and logs for quality control.
• Keep a clean, sanitized kitchen work area.
• Follow rules; be ready for work in uniform at scheduled time.
• Assist with opening/closing kitchen as required.
• Maintain safe, tidy work environment and proper equipment use.
• Communicate needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Monitor equipment; report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Support colleagues to perform essential kitchen functions.
• Assist with ordering and inventory procedures.
• Remove refuse and manage stock as needed.
