Job summary

Centro is seeking a Staff Clinician in Worcester, MA to develop and implement comprehensive care plans addressing diverse mental health needs. The role involves initial client assessments for DCF/CBHI programs and collaboration with family and staff to address challenges impacting mental health.

The clinician will maintain communication with medical and support teams, pursue additional therapeutic resources, and participate in trainings with MBHP credentialing and CBHI departments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required and five years’ experience in Human Services, Social Work, Education or Case Management.
• Six months of hands-on clinical or therapeutic experience or equivalent in case work.
• Strong communication, organization and ethical standards; ability to work independently or in groups.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake and assessment and treatment planning with collateral and family involvement.
• Provide treatment in client’s home; transport as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely billing reports.

Job description

In collaboration with other staff members, the Staff Clinician is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive care plan that addresses the individual needs, treatments and mental health disorders of a client. The Staff Clinician is responsible for conducting the initial assessment of the prospective Intensive Family Stabilization (in the DCF Program), CBHI, or mental health services program client. In collaboration with appropriate additional program staff, or collaterals, the Staff Clinician is also responsible for assisting the client’s family address issues and challenges that may contribute to the client’s current mental health status. The staff clinician is responsible for maintaining communication with client’s medical and support team. Further, this person is responsible for identifying and accessing additional therapeutic resources to support and to assist clients and their families in his/her caseload, and for maintaining direct communication with collateral contacts as well as the Assistant Director, Director of Support & Stabilization Services, and the Chief Program Officer of the organization. Staff clinicians may be required to provide occasional clinical support to other clinical department within the agency.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Intake & Assessment and Treatment Planning: Utilizing the appropriate therapeutic assessment tools and strategies and in collaboration with necessary collateral and family members, the Staff Clinician is responsible for conducting an assessment of the client, and establishing an appropriate treatment plan with positive and achievable goals and objectives that help improve his/her mental health condition.
• Treatment: Guided by accepted treatment standards and proven methodology the Staff Clinician will provide the appropriate treatment model identified to best address the client’s diagnosis. Treatment will be provided at the Client’s home and for the prescribed time. May need to provide some transportation to clients.
• Documentation: In accordance with program procedures, the Staff Clinician will maintain accurate documentation of client interaction and progress, contact with collaterals, or other necessary documentation. Timely and accurate submission of said documentation, as well as billing reports are a must.
• Training: Staff Clinicians are required to attend a corps set of trainings as well as on-going training opportunities provided to all agency employees. In addition, Staff Clinicians are required to attend all program-specific trainings, mandatory agency meetings and staff outings.
• Certification & Cases: Staff Clinicians are expected to meet the qualification for being credential by MBHP as well as maintaining that credentialing status. You are required to be CANS certified and Maintained that certification. Staff Clinician are to be trained within the CBHI department and pick up cases per Assistant Director and Director of Support & Stabilization Services.
• Special Projects and Outreach: Staff Clinicians are expected to participate in Agency-sponsored special events, as well as industry networking and professional development activities, such as appropriate conferences and workshops. Staff Clinicians are also expected to conduct outreach activities in the community, so to ensure increased program utilization.
• Mandated Reporter Statute: An individual in this position is considered a “Mandated Reporter” when carrying out the duties of this position.

Education & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Social Rehab, Education, Special Education, Sociology, Psychology or Counseling.
• Minimum five years’ experience in Human Services, Social Work, Education or Case Management
• Minimum six months of hands-on clinical/therapeutic experience or the equivalent in case work.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to sit for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write and/or type
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Occasional driving to client appointments, offsite meetings, conferences, etc.
