Job summary

Newton Child Development Center is seeking a full-time Teacher Assistant – Floater to support multiple classrooms across the center in Chattanooga. The floater moves between infant, toddler, and preschool rooms to help where needed.

No classroom experience required; training is provided. The role emphasizes caring, patience, dependability, and teamwork, with pay starting at $13/hour plus benefits for full-time staff. Schedule is Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm, at 1301 Grove Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Help teachers care for and supervise children.
• Fill in when a classroom needs extra help or a staff member is out.
• Help with meals, snacks, naps, and clean-up.
• Join in play, reading, and learning activities.
• Keep children safe at all times.
• Follow classroom routines and Center policies.
• Treat every child and family with kindness and respect.
