Equipment Mechanic – Street Department
The City of Fort Madison is accepting applications for a full-time Mechanic in the Public Works Department. This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled mechanical work to maintain and repair City vehicles and equipment. Duties include diagnostics, preventative maintenance, welding, tire repair, and emergency field repairs. Candidates should have experience with gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle diagnostics.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Three (3) years of mechanical experience preferred

Valid State Driver’s License and Class B CDL with tanker endorsement required

Strong knowledge of automotive systems and safety practices
