Job Overview: We are seeking a certified medical assistant for a full-time position. The Medical Assistant (MA) will assist our Ophthalmologist with clinical and administrative tasks. The MA will work closely with patients and our team of physicians in all aspects of ophthalmic care, from dry eye evaluations and procedures to cataracts, glaucoma, in-house procedures, surgeries, and more.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (Ophthalmology experience preferred)
  • Phlebotomy experience (preferred, but certification not required)
  • Prior experience in an Ophthalmology setting (preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Availability to work Monday - Friday and two Saturdays a month.

Responsibilities

  • Patient care: Work up patients and record their medical history. Also, help physicians during exams, position patients, and document exam results.
  • Laboratory work: Collect and prepare specimens for lab tests, such as blood, tissue, and throat swabs.
  • Record keeping: Enter patient information, including chief complaints, medications, test results, and treatment information, into medical records.
  • Inventory: Maintain medical and office supplies inventory and place orders when needed.
  • Cleaning: Clean and stock exam rooms and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Communication: Maintain respectful communication with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
