General Summary

The Physician shall be responsible for providing high-quality, efficient, patient-centered, and cost-effective care to all assigned patients. Care may be provided in ambulatory, sub-acute, or acute care settings as deemed appropriate. Full-time is defined as at least forty (40) hours of direct patient care or administrative work per week, typically in five (5) full workdays. On-call coverage shall be allocated fairly and reasonably based on the Physician’s specialty.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following describes the general nature and level of work for this role. This list is not exhaustive of all duties performed by personnel in this classification:

• Maintain complete and accurate records of all services provided to patients according to established standards.
• Promote the goals and objectives of UM Charles Regional.
• Participate in quality assurance programs as assigned.
• Supervise administrative responsibilities of non-physician staff working with the Physician.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, including personnel actions, payroll, training, charity care, billing, and claims processing.
• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations such as OSHA, CLIA, and labor laws.
• Contribute to budget development and monitor expenses through ongoing reconciliation.
• Apply tact and diplomacy in interactions.
• Maintain courteous attitude and promote good patient relations and a positive organizational image.
• Engage in practice and community development activities to increase Physician visibility.
• Collaborate with administration to adjust practice styles and schedules to improve productivity and patient satisfaction.
• Participate in disease management programs to enhance care efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Current medical license to practice in Maryland.
• Board Certification in the practicing specialty.
• Current DEA or equivalent Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification.
• Appropriate clinical privileges at a UMMS-affiliated acute care facility, if applicable.
• Meeting CME requirements for licensure and certification.
• Relevant qualifications and experience for the role.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Cardiologist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with hospital staff, patients, visitors, and colleagues.
