Job description

TheCity of Hinesville is acceptingapplications for a BusOperator. This role involves providing transportation services for the publicin a safe and reliable manner. Duties and responsibilities include but are notlimited to safely operating and properly maneuvering various types of vehicles,transporting demand-response passengers, providing excellent customer service,and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Majorduties include:

• Knowledge of all traffic, City, State andFederal laws and regulations
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of operatingvehicles including pre/post trip inspection of equipment and submission ofdaily trip summaries while working with the public
• Operates public transit vehicles to providesafe and timely transportation for the public and special populations on theCity’s demand-response and fixed route service
• Assist people with mobility devices to boardand alight from the vehicle and to secure their mobility device inside thevehicle
• Knowledge of the geography of the City ofHinesville, City of Flemington, City of Walthourville and Ft. Stewart
• Ability to make independent judgements whichhave moderate impacts on the organization
• Ability to read and write to complete requiredreports and records
• Ability to operate a two-way radio inaccordance with internal operating procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbalinstructions

Minimum qualifications include theability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a levelcommonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.Sufficient experience to understand basic principles relevant to the majorduties of the position, usually associated with the completion of anapprenticeship/internship or having held a similar position for one or twoyears. Must maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s license. Must be able to pass apre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen and physical. Theminimum starting is $40,737.18 plus an excellent benefits package. The position closes on October 2, 2026, at 5:00p.m.
