Job Summary

Full Time Gordon Food Service Box Truck Driver will present a positive image to customers through courteous, on‑time, and accurate deliveries of GFS products and serve as a liaison between GFS management and customers. The driver must have safe work habits, working knowledge of box truck or refrigerated van, and the ability to deal effectively with customers and the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products.
• Build and maintain good customer relationships.
• Accurately collect customer payments, safeguard company funds, and follow GFS banking policies.
• Perform all sales service functions by the 90th day of employment.
• Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitor reefer temperature, and report mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
• Complete daily check‑ins in a timely manner with no errors; manage paperwork including register, credits, pick‑ups, etc.
• Perform daily pre/post‑trip inspection of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned in store or driver related.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to adhere to all safety/compliance regulations and procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance wearing the GFS uniform.
• Possess punctuality, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Work independently and also function in a team environment.
• Read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• Meet physical demands, including lifting, pushing, pulling product; operate a two‑wheeled hand truck up to 350 lbs.
• Operate on‑board computer and handheld scanner.
• Basic knowledge of computer operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus one year previous driving experience and one year experience in customer service or related field.
• Must have or be able to obtain a DOT Physical before start date.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license (required).
• No drug or alcohol offenses in the last 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Additional Requirement for Customer Employees

Any candidate who works for a Gordon Food Service customer may be required to provide a letter of support from their management if selected for interview.
