Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Medical Courier to ensure safe, timely transport of blood and blood components to hospitals and service area clients.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 70 pounds, and a willingness to work a varied schedule including some nights, weekends and on-call hours, with comprehensive benefits and a strong commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and LifeSouth driver eligibility.
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow procedures and instructions.
• Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds and performing physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Review shipping notices and orders to determine priorities and methods.
• Receive and carry out blood orders from hospitals and customers.
• Inspect and evaluate blood products for safety and potency.
• Package and deliver blood products to service area clients.
• Run errands and transport documents and supplies as needed.
• Assist Hospital Services Team Leader with problem resolution per SOP.
• Provide high-level customer service to internal and external customers.
