Qualifications

  • BA degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Special Education, or related area.
  • Ability to observe, review and analyze data, and be able to enhance teaching practices to meet school readiness goals.
  • Ability to coordinate, organize, and manage.
  • Effective computer, written and verbal communication, and effective critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record or State issued ID.
  • Must pass required background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student behavioral needs and capabilities through observation, data collection, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate behavioral data, special education reports, service documentation, and required daily records.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revise individualized behavior support plans in collaboration with families, teachers, staff, caregivers, and partner agencies.
  • Evaluate progress toward behavioral support goals and determine the effectiveness of intervention strategies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with families, caregivers, staff, and appropriate personnel regarding student progress, concerns, and recommended supports.
  • Coordinate behavioral support services across Head Start/Early Head Start programs, families, community support systems, and outside agencies.
  • Travel throughout Cabell, Wayne, Mason, and Lincoln counties, including homes and program sites, to provide behavioral support services as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of community resources and applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to special education.
  • Respond professionally and appropriately to emotionally charged situations and report suspected child abuse, neglect, or endangerment to the proper authorities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
