The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) plays a pivotal role in driving sales and fostering a delightful customer experience within our retail stores. This individual will contribute to formulating a robust store strategy, aligning the team with our corporate values and mission. Responsibilities include overseeing operational tasks such as opening/closing procedures, inventory management, and visual merchandising, as well as collaborating to achieve store objectives and nurturing team development. The ASM is expected to exemplify effective sales techniques and lead by example. This role requires working 32-40 hours per week, subject to business needs.
Responsibilities
- Exceed personal and store sales goals, setting a benchmark for the team and aiding in developing sales skills among team members.
- Devise and implement sales strategies to optimize revenue, ensuring an outstanding customer experience and meeting key performance indicators.
- Capture and manage client information comprehensively, including phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills by quickly identifying customer needs and addressing objections.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of store merchandise, pricing models, and layout of the sales floor and stockroom.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and visual merchandising in the store.
- Utilize proficiency in POS, CRM, and inventory management systems.
- Enforce inventory security measures following the loss prevention program.
- Adhere to operational policies and procedures.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring employees to improve performance.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager in recruiting and onboarding new employees.
Requirements
- Prior retail management experience, ideally 1+ years in assistant manager roles.
- A results-oriented individual with a strong sales focus, capable of leading and coaching teams.
- Positive, energetic, friendly personality; willing to initiate customer interactions.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and partners.
- Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and use ladders or stairs comfortably.
- Proven ability in coaching and fostering a team environment.
