Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is seeking an AM Server for the Summer on Music Lane at Hotel Magdalena in Austin, TX. This on-site position requires friendly guest service, accurate order taking, and knowledge of menu items and wine pairing.

The server will greet guests, escort them to tables, and ensure compliance with service standards while maintaining Hyatt's culture and guest experience. The role emphasizes teamwork, punctuality, and the ability to handle busy periods.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts.
• Six months related experience in hospitality or service industry.
• Must be able to write and understand basic English for guest interactions.
• Ability to use POS and know basic math for orders and payments.
• Six months related hospitality experience.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language of the workplace.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff.
• Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. POS and PMS).
• Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

• Escort customers to their tables.
• Present menus and answer questions about items; make recommendations.
• Describe and recommend wines to customers.
• Check IDs to ensure minimum age for alcohol.
• Explain how items are prepared and ingredients used.
• Serve food or beverages and prepare specialty dishes as required.
• Inform customers of daily specials.
• Record orders accurately in the POS system.
• Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
• Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position.

The Opportunity:

A server will exceed the expectations of all guests in a multitude of tasks that include but are not limited to taking orders and serving food and beverages to patrons at tables in dining establishment.

The person having this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
• Escort customers to their tables
• Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
• Describe and recommend wines to customers
• Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
• Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
• Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
• Inform customers of daily specials
• Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
• Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
• Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale)
• Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
