Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for NC teaching license in EC/Adaptive Education.
• EC General Licensure or ELA or Math licensure required.
• Praxis II and a bachelor’s degree required for lateral entry.
• Candidate must be Highly Qualified in all academic areas.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and assess individual students and groups based on the NC Standard Course of Study.
• Develop lesson plans to support EC students’ academic, behavioral, and social goals per IEPs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of EC laws, rules, regulations, practices and trends.
• Demonstrate knowledge of curricula, instructional methods, technology, and cognitive development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of various disabilities and maintain accurate records.
• Compile records and reports for Special Education services in a timely manner.
• Record data on progress toward academic and behavioral goals in IEPs.
• Develop and implement the IEP in developmentally appropriate classroom settings.
• Be self-motivated, collaborative, and flexible; work with parents, students, staff.
• Perform heavy lifting as required and other duties as assigned.
