Responsibilities

  • Instruct and assess individual students and groups based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Develop lesson plans to assist EC students appropriate academic, behavioral, and social skills in accordance with IEP goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of educational and exceptional children laws, rules, regulations, practices and trends.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of educational curricula, instructional methodology and techniques, technology, cognitive development of students and integration of these to promote student success.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the traits and characteristics of various disabilities.
  • Extensive maintenance of accurate records on a timely basis.
  • Compile a variety of records, reports, and documentary forms for Special Education services on a timely basis.
  • Gather and record data on student progress toward academic and behavioral goals on the IEP on a timely basis.
  • Develop and implement the IEP in classroom settings that are compatible with the student's age and developmental level.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, collaborative, and flexible
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • Other duties as assigned

Goal
