Job summary

WEX is seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer II to contribute to the Beyond Fuel and Expense Management initiative within WEX Mobility Engineering. This role spans web, mobile, backend, APIs, and partner integrations to deliver secure, scalable payment and expense management solutions.

The role is an individual contributor focusing on core capabilities while collaborating with Product, Design, Security, and engineering teams across the United States and India.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing REST APIs, distributed systems, and relational data models.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and secure API design.
• Experience with testing (unit/integration/e2e) and production services.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical design, development, and implementation of features for the Beyond Fuel and Expense Management platform.
• Build full-stack capabilities across UI, backend, data models, and external integrations.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs, milestones, and plans.
• Design reusable business capabilities and APIs for web, mobile, and partner experiences.
• Implement payment workflows, expense capture, approvals, spend controls, and reporting.
• Write production code and participate in code reviews and engineering discussions.
• Ensure automated testing, API contracts, observability, and secure development.
