Job summary

deciBel Research in Dayton, OH, seeks a Senior Full‑Stack Software Engineer to lead modernization of GEOINT systems by architecting cloud‑native data driven applications and microservices. You will guide architecture, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence across complex modernization efforts.

Responsibilities include leading cloud deployments, DevSecOps, and integration of large data pipelines while partnering with mission users to define technical strategy and requirements.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of full‑stack software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical delivery or architecture for cloud‑native or distributed systems.
• Experience with Python, Java/Spring Boot, or similar enterprise stacks.
• Experience with AWS (preferably) or Azure cloud frameworks.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with complex API ecosystems (REST, gRPC, GraphQL).
• Experience building secure, high‑performance applications in classified environments.

Responsibilities

• Own major system components and guide the technical roadmap for modernization and cloud adoption.
• Develop distributed, secure, scalable back‑end services using Python, Java/Spring Boot, or similar technologies.
• Architect and govern cloud deployments (AWS), including Kubernetes clusters, IaC, security controls, and reliability patterns.
• Guide teams in DevSecOps execution, including GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, secure coding standards, and supply‑chain integrity.
• Integrate large‑scale data, search, or analytic pipelines (Kafka, NiFi, Elasticsearch).
• Partner with product owners and cross‑functional teams to define requirements and strategy.
• Support mid‑level and junior engineers; perform code reviews and drive best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies (LLMs/AI) for mission applicability.

Position Description:

deciBel Research is a seeking a Full Stack Remote Sensing Software Engineer to Lead the modernization of mission‑critical GEOINT systems by architecting and delivering cloud‑native, data‑driven applications and microservices. In this senior role, you will shape technical direction, oversee the integration of modern pipelines, and develop secure, scalable solutions that directly impact analysts performing high‑consequence missions. You will serve as a technical leader who advises on architecture, mentors engineers, and drives engineering excellence across complex modernization efforts.

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of full‑stack capabilities across cloud‑native microservices
• Own major system components and guide the technical roadmap for modernization and cloud adoption

Education Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

• 3+ years of full‑stack software engineering experience
• Experience leading technical delivery or architecture for cloud‑native or distributed systems
• Experience with Python, C++, Java/Spring Boot, or similar enterprise service stacks
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (such as: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or SQLite, etc.)
• Experience architecting and deploying solutions using AWS (preferably) or Azure cloud frameworks
• Experience with containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with complex API ecosystems (such as: FastAPT, REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
• Experience building secure, high‑performance applications in classified environments

Special Skills Desired:

• Expertise with distributed search or data platforms such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr, Kafka, NiFi
• Experience modernizing legacy applications into modern frameworks
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM‑based development workflows
• Experience supporting GEOINT or Intelligence Community analytic missions
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering. or related field
