Job summary

Black Cape is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer (entry to senior levels) for on-site work in the Arlington, VA area and surrounding DMV. The role requires an active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship.

You will join a team serving DoD and IC customers, building cloud-native web apps, data tools, and AI/ML features with an engineering-first culture. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of professional coding experience, proficiency in at least one OO language, and familiarity with

• 2+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Proficient in at least one OO language (Java, Python, C#, or C++).
• Experience with at least one MVC framework (Spring, Django, Flask, or Rails).
• Experience with at least one relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite).
• Experience with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS).
• Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS, and JavaScript.

Title: Full Stack Software Engineer (Entry level - Senior Levels)

Locations: Arlington, VA and areas throughout the DMV (DC, MD, VA)

Onsite Expectations: MUST be willing to go onsite 2 - 3 days per week; could be up to 5 days per week - as the customer needs

Clearance: MUST have an Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance

Required Technical Skills (MUST HAVES):

• 2+ years of professional experience needed for MOST of our opportunities
• Proficient in at least ONE Object-Oriented language such as Java, Python, C# or C++ - NOT All, just ONE OO language
• Experience with at least ONE MVC framework, perhaps including Spring, Django, Flask or Rails
• Experience with at least ONE relational database, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or sqlite3
• Experience working with Linux distributions like Ubuntu, RedHat, or CentOS
• Working knowledge of web application basics like HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS, and JavaScript

Preferred Technical Skills (NICE TO HAVES):

• Proficient in at least one scripting language like Python, Bash, or Perl
• Familiar with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar
• Familiar with a JavaScript framework like React, Backbone, Angular, Ember or Vue.js
• Familiar with Bootstrap and Less
• Experience with NoSQL storage like ElasticSearch, Accumulo, and MongoDB is a plus.
