Job summary

Black Cape is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer (Entry to Senior levels) in the Arlington, VA area. Onsite 2–3 days per week (potentially more as needed) with required active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.

Citizenship and security clearance are mandatory, with DoD/IC customers and essential mission work. The team builds cloud-native full-stack web applications, advanced data analysis tools, and AI/ML capabilities for federal government programs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in at least one OO language (Java, Python, C#, or C++).
• Experience with at least one MVC framework (Spring, Django, Flask, or Rails).
• Experience with at least one relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, sqlite3).
• Experience with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, RedHat, or CentOS).
• Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS and JavaScript.

Locations:Arlington, VA and areas throughout the DMV (DC, MD, VA)
Onsite Expectations: MUST be willing to go onsite 2 - 3 days per week; could be up to 5 days per week - as the customer needs

Clearance: MUST have an Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance

Required Technical Skills (MUST HAVES):

• 2+ years of professional experience needed for MOST of our opportunities


• Proficient in at least ONE Object-Oriented language such as Java, Python, C# or C++ - NOT All, just ONE OO language


• Experience with at least ONE MVC framework, perhaps including Spring, Django, Flask or Rails


• Experience with at least ONE relational database, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or sqlite3


• Experience working with Linux distributions like Ubuntu, RedHat, or CentOS


• Working knowledge of web application basics like HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS, and JavaScript

Preferred Technical Skills (NICE TO HAVES):

• Proficient in at least one scripting language like Python, Bash, or Perl


• Familiar with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar


• Familiar with a JavaScript framework like React, Backbone, Angular, Ember or Vue.js


• Familiar with Bootstrap and Less


• Experience with NoSQL storage like ElasticSearch, Accumulo, and MongoDB is a plus.
