Job description

We are partnering with a rapidly growing neurotechnology client in San Francisco focused on developing complex neuro devices. They are seeking a Software Engineer to build and support production software used in real products. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on Python development, backend systems, and full-stack software development.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software primarily in Rust within a desktop environment, with occasional server and web development.
• Design and implement APIs, secure data flows, and scalable solutions for real-time and batch time-series data.
• Collaborate with firmware, machine learning, clinical, and product engineering teams.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, modular architecture, documentation, and automated testing.
• Author and maintain design documentation, specifications, and verification protocols aligned with medical software design controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Medical-device software experience under design controls and IEC 62304.
• 3+ years of production software engineering experience across full-stack application development.
• Strong proficiency in Rust or a similar programming language, along with proficiency in Python.
• Experience with systems design, data-flow architecture, performance-critical code, and API design.
• Understanding of software quality practices, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines in production environments.

Preferred

• Experience with HIPAA-compliant platforms, biological sensor or time-series data, neurophysiological signal processing, or connected-device cybersecurity is preferred.
