Job summary

Peraton seeks a Full Stack Software Engineer to support secure satellite ground communications. You will build backend services on AWS, design scalable APIs, and create frontend components with modern tooling.

Collaboration with MBSE and Test teams ensures alignment of requirements with system implementation. You will focus on Python backend development, TypeScript frontend with Vite, and containerized deployments using Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Python backend and API development.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend tooling (Vite).
  • Experience designing relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization (RBAC/ABAC).
  • Experience with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for deployment.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with PKI, OAuth 2.0, and JWT.
  • Strong debugging and production-issue resolution skills.
  • Top-Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Present designs to engineering teams and stakeholders.

  • Develop microservices and service‑to‑service communication patterns.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues and support integrations.

Job description

Required qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6+ years of experience; OR Doctoral degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Proficiency in Python development for backend systems and APIs.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases, including SQL, triggers, functions, and stored procedures.
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, including RBAC and ABAC.
  • Experience with microservice development and backend service architectures.
  • Proficiency in developing software using TypeScript, including use of modern language features, strong type checking, and practices that support maintainable and reliable code.
  • Experience developing and building front‑end applications using Vite and associated modern web development tools.
  • Experience with contemporary front‑end development practices, including component‑based architecture, state management techniques, application routing, and responsive design.
  • Experience using Git‑based source control systems and participating in structured code review processes.
  • Experience investigating and resolving production issues in operational environments.
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and automated test workflows.
  • Working knowledge of PKI concepts and asynchronous messaging architectures.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, OAuth 2.0, JWT, Git, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Kafka, and Unix shell scripting.
  • Experience applying Zero Trust software development principles.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for containerized deployment and orchestration.
  • Experience with at least one major commercial cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with MBSE and Test engineering teams.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical designs and recommendations to cross‑functional stakeholders.

In this role, you will create backend components, collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, and ensure technical solutions align with system requirements and program objectives.

What you’ll do:

  • Support customer and partner integration activities as part of platform deployment and capability development.
