State Farm is seeking a Software Engineer for the SSAA team, operating in a hybrid environment with a full-stack focus. You will design, develop, test, and support applications that view and manage State Farm Agent information across the career lifecycle.

  • Experience designing, architecting and implementing solutions in AWS via automation (e.g. Terraform).
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitOps.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and support products for business areas.
  • Provide support for problem resolution and technical consultation to business partners.
  • Identify problems and plan long-term, repeatable solutions meeting customer needs.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, story development, retrospectives).

This posting is for a software engineer position on State Farm's Sales Service and Assignment Application team (SSAA). We are a full stack development team that operates with an agile mindset in a hybrid work environment.

We provide products and services that provide a common platform to view and manage State Farm Agent and Agent Team Member information from initial hire throughout their career.

We are a "one-stop shop" for viewing and managing State Farm Agent/Agent Team Member, leveraging technology and business process improvements to drive integration and automation, improving accuracy, security, and efficiency for the Enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and support products for business areas (creating new or modifying existing applications/tools to meet technical specifications or business needs)
  • Provides support for problem resolution and provides technical consultation to business partners
  • Identify problems, related technical issues and the approach to long-term, repeatable solutions meeting customer/grantor needs
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, story development, team retrospectives, etc.
  • Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in software engineering topics, including classes, functions, security, containers, version control, CI/CD, and unit tests
  • Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in Cloud related technologies, Lambda (NodeJs/Java), APIGateway, DynamoDB, Postgres
  • Maintain and continue to develop breadth of knowledge in programming (e.g., Java, JavaScript), and database functionality (e.g., SQL, Postgres)
  • Develop an understanding of user experience best practices and test designs and standards
  • Collaborate with business subject matter resources to design and build a solution that meets business requirements
  • Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and share knowledge with the team
Qualifications

We Are Looking for Candidates With

  • JavaScript libraries & frameworks, CSS, JSON
  • Core Java, J2EE and related frameworks, Spring Boot, REST services
  • CI/CD pipelines that leverage tools like Gitlab, and GitOps
  • Knowledge of AWS services (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, etc.)

Nice To Have Skills/experiences

  • Experience designing, architecting and implementing solutions in AWS via automation (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar technologies) to improve software development productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation.
Our Benefits

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

  • Potential starting salary range: $85,500 - $125,000
  • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
  • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
