Job summary

Fable is seeking a backend-focused engineer to design and build backend systems and data models powering its human risk platform. You will own features end-to-end, collaborating with design and product teams to ship customer-ready experiences and iterate quickly with early users.

You will contribute to engineering culture through code reviews, shared ownership, and mentorship, delivering production-grade code while balancing quality and speed.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience building and shipping fullstack or backend-heavy applications
• Strong fluency with Django or similar frameworks
• Strong backend fundamentals, including API design, data modeling, and persistence
• Hands-on Postgres experience, including schema design and query performance
• Experience building frontend interfaces, ideally with React or Next.js
• Familiarity with TypeScript and GraphQL, or willingness to grow into them
• Ability to take features from concept to production independently
• Customer-focused mindset
• Thoughtfulness about system design and data integrity
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments
