Job summary

KBR is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer focused on storage and data platform design to support GEMSTONE. You will design, deploy, and manage storage solutions across cloud and on-prem environments, integrated with Kubernetes, CI/CD, and secure practices.

You’ll collaborate with platform engineers and DevSecOps teams to deliver scalable, resilient storage services and data-driven applications for defense-related workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
• Experience with distributed storage platforms (Ceph, Longhorn, OpenEBS, Portworx, GlusterFS)
• Experience deploying or supporting applications in Kubernetes environments
• Experience with on-prem storage infrastructure and storage management
• Strong understanding of Linux file systems and POSIX
• Familiarity with cloud-native storage concepts (PV, PVC, Storage Classes, CSI)
• 1–5 years of professional software development
• Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or C#; and web tech (React, TypeScript, JavaScript)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software solutions for platform storage and data persistence
• Develop backend services to manage datasets, artifacts, metadata, content, and workflows
• Support distributed storage solutions in Kubernetes and on-prem environments
• Assist with hybrid storage architectures across cloud and on-prem
• Build and maintain web apps to explore and publish data assets
• Develop APIs for data access, metadata management, and storage lifecycle
• Support storage in interactive developer environments
• Automate backup, replication, migration, archiving, and recovery
• Collaborate on identity, authorization, auditing, and monitoring integration
• Participate in architecture reviews, Agile development, code reviews, and testing
• Support deployment and validation through CI/CD pipelines
• Contribute to technical docs and procedures
