Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, and deploy secure software solutions within a Platform and Technology product operating model. You will integrate security and automation across the SDLC, focusing on CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native delivery, and infrastructure as code.

The role emphasizes hands-on development in Java, JavaScript, or Python, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform expertise, and strong collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure production-ready

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years in technology, full stack development, platform engineering, or cloud integration.
• 3+ years hands-on MuleSoft Anypoint Platform experience (API design, integration development, platform administration).
• Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript, or Python with backend service development and integration.
• Proficiency in DataWeave, RAML, and OpenAPI Specification (OAS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines) and IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep).
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and SOA.
• Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Monitor.
• Strong scripting and automation with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Working knowledge of Git and version control best practices.
• Experience with Docker and orchestration in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.
• Experience incorporating AI coding assistants or automation tools to enhance developer productivity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on reliability and process orientation.

Your Role

The Application Services team plays a critical role in enhancing customer satisfaction and technical collaboration while delivering all application development through a Platform and Technology Product Operating Model. The Full Stack Engineer role will report to the Director, IT Applications (Integration and Interoperability Platform).

In this role you will be deeply involved in the design, development, and deployment of secure, high-quality software solutions. Your role will focus on integrating security and automation throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code and building infrastructure that supports CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native delivery. You'll implement and enforce DevSecOps best practices tailored for Azure, contribute to infrastructure as code, and work closely with developers, testers, and cloud engineers to ensure code is secure, scalable, and production‑ready from day one. This role requires a hands‑on engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about code quality, automation, and secure cloud development.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related, or equivalent experience.
