Job summary

Shift4 is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Financial Systems Experience team. You will design, build, and support full stack applications, back-end services, and data pipelines that power finance and billing workflows.

You will collaborate with data teams, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial outputs and scalable solutions, while adhering to SDLC, testing, and deployment best practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with backend development in .NET, C#, VB.NET, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar languages.
• Strong SQL experience, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures and data validation.
• Experience building or supporting data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or large-scale data workflows.
• Experience developing or reviewing front-end applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Understanding of SDLC practices, Git-based development, code review, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex application and data issues independently.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to finance, operations, and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full stack applications for Shift4’s Financial Systems team.
• Build and maintain backend services, database logic, and integrations supporting financial workflows.
• Develop and optimize SQL, data pipelines, reporting datasets, and data validation routines for high-volume data.
• Partner with front-end engineers to review architecture, UI behavior, and data contracts.
• Contribute to front-end development and support billing, payments, and internal platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues involving data quality, performance, and financial output.
• Create documentation covering data models, processes, and integration logic.
• Improve standards around testing, observability, and deployment readiness.
