Job summary

Benchling, Inc. is rebuilding biotech for the AI era by providing an AI-driven platform for R&D data and workflows.

The Enterprise Lifecycle team focuses on auditing, document lifecycle, exports, and backups to help regulated customers prove product safety and navigate GxP requirements. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will shape AI-enabled compliance workflows, collaborate across engineering and product, and deliver scalable systems that support FDA submissions and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering multi-sprint projects end-to-end.
• Strong experience building backend systems and APIs for cloud-based web applications.
• Familiarity with frontend development and willingness to build full-stack solutions when needed.
• Ability to design technical solutions that account for edge cases, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Commitment to clear written and verbal communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
• Interest in learning about life sciences and biotech.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver features and systems that advance Benchling's product and business goals across audit, export, document lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance workflows.
• Own end-to-end delivery of significant projects—from planning to deployment, maintenance, and monitoring.
• Design technical solutions for open-ended problems, collaborating with senior engineers on larger efforts.
• Write well-documented, well-tested code and perform refactors to improve quality.
• Participate in code reviews to raise team output quality.
• Partner with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Explore opportunities to leverage AI/LLMs to improve compliance workflows and audit reporting.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure horizontal platform integration.
