Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Full Stack Developer (Advanced) in New York, NY for a 7-month contract with potential conversion. Expected pay ranges from $75 to $90 per hour on a W2 basis, with 80% backend and 20% frontend focus.

The role emphasizes design, build, and operation of scalable services using React, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra/CockroachDB, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating microservices in Java/Spring Boot.
• Frontend experience with React for usable interfaces.
• Experience with Kafka for event streaming.
• Hands-on with Cassandra and CockroachDB data modeling and tuning.
• Containerization with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of critical components with 80% backend focus.
• Establish coding standards and ensure automated test coverage.
• Mentor engineers and support onboarding.
• Plan work, estimate, manage dependencies, and hit milestones.
• Own production reliability including monitoring and incident response.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize services.
• Ensure secure design including auth, secrets, and vulnerabilities.
• Communicate status and risks across teams and leadership.
• Improve CI/CD, testing strategy, and release processes.
• Translate requirements into scalable APIs and data models.
