Job summary

Different Inc. is seeking an engineer to own large, customer-facing parts of the product—how it's designed, built, and how it holds up as marketers rely on it. You’ll make technical decisions, work with Applied AI engineers on agents and models, and help earlier-career engineers excel.

This role spans the full stack and evolves weekly. You’ll work on product areas end to end, collaborating with customers and teams to decide what to build, then validating after launch that it performs as

Qualifications

• 3–6 years building and shipping web products with real ownership.
• Depth on both frontend and backend: TypeScript, React, Node or Python, databases, and cloud infra.
• Examples of important technical decisions and their outcomes.
• Hands-on experience shipping at least one LLM-powered feature to real users.
• Experience on a top team known for quality, reliability or scale.
• Curiosity about AI changes and judgment on new models/tools.

Responsibilities

• Own one or more product areas end to end from design to production.
• Collaborate with customers and customer-facing teams to decide what to build.
• Implement AI features as systems: retrieval, tool use, agents, monitoring and fallbacks.
• Define evals for open-ended problems to guide shipping decisions.
• Shape scope and trade-offs with product and design, balancing speed and quality.
• Set high standards for code reviews, testing, and documentation; mentor junior engineers.
